Zack Maxwell – VGC Testimonial
I am a born and raised Virginian, growing up just outside the front gates, attending the local primary school.
My dad being a PGA professional here at Virginia Golf Club my whole life. I spent a lot of my time skateboarding to the club before and after school. Whether it was to play , practice or muck around I was here most days. Virginia Golf Club from a young age really showed me what loyalty and culture was and treated me like i was family.
When I was 12 years old it was my first time to represent Virginia Golf Club at the Callaway World Junior’s in California. This was an Unforgettable experience and ultimately what helped me realise what it means to play this amazing sport and represent Virginia Golf Club.
Come my teenage years, I started to take golf very seriously and represented Virginia Golf Club through our pennant squad and competing at interstate events throughout the country. Getting down to a scratch handicap and getting into the Australia Men’s Amateur, where i was the youngest at 14 years old.
After a few more great results lead me to represent Golf in Queensland Academy of sport and playing for Queensland.
2021 I had debuted as a professional in the Queensland Open, making the cut and proceeding to not play a single tournament for 11 months due to covid.
Over the next 2 years the step to becoming a professional golfer was being made much more achievable, from the support and strength given to me by Virginia Golf Club.
Having Been to 8 professional qualifying stage worldwide now, I have learnt so much especially with the support from my home club.
Now in 2024 I have obtained my Full Australian Tour Card and won the biggest ProAm tournament in the country.
The history of this club inspires me, and I am making it my goal to inspire the next me.
From the course of champions.
