Dear Members, (apologies for the long message in advance – but an important issue).
As all will be aware, over recent weeks there has been a waitlist for access to the Saturday timesheet and most particularly, to the morning field. Pleasingly, to date, we have been successful in clearing waitlists each week (and over the last 12 months) so any member on a wait list been able to secure a tee spot.
However, we do ask members to continue to support us in making sure that if you booked into a Saturday or Sunday timesheet and are aware (or become aware) that you will be unable to play, we ask that you immediately remove your name from the timesheet such that another member who is on a waitlist can then access the time sheet.
Unfortunately, in recent weeks with full fields on the Saturday, we have had multiple occasions of members cancelling bookings inside 60 minutes of their tee time, which is obviously too late to allow another member to take that spot. Last week there were 6 members who cancelled inside 60 minutes from their tee time. This is obviously sub optimal. Our request is for members to remove their names as soon as they become aware they will be unable to play. We get it that last minute unavoidable things come up, but “too hot” or “too windy” does not really cut it as a reason to cancel at the last minute.
Going forward, members who cancel Saturday bookings post 5.00 pm on the Friday (before the Saturday competition) will be asked to provide a reason which will be considered by the Club. The Club’s By Laws provide for members who repeatedly remove themselves from the time sheet post 5.00 pm on the Friday (or don’t show up at all) to be potentially denied access to future a Saturday time sheet/s. We would much prefer that courtesy and respect for other members be the main driver of your timely removal from the timesheet if booked & unable to play.
Lastly, a suggestion for Members who go on a waitlist for a Saturday competition, please provide the widest possible time period for your tee time to give us the best chance of getting you a game, providing a 30 minute period on the wait list for a tee time makes it difficult to accommodate.
Sorry for the long message, but this simply a request for all members to work with us (and be respectful of other members) so we do not have the situation where members who want to play on a Saturday are unable to do so due a member who is unable to play leaving themselves on the sheet.
Tony.
