Dear Members, just a quick update (& accept this is simply stating the obvious). As a result of this weather event, the Golf Courses are significantly inundated, tomorrow’s competition play is cancelled and it is highly improbable the course will be playable for a number of days.
There is significant flood waters across all lower areas of the course and surface water across 2nd, 13th, 18th & 17th fairways. At this stage, the new 1st green has not been submerged but this is still wait and see with a high tide predicted tomorrow. There is a strong current evident in water in front of the 1st green. The Golf Shop has not yet been flooded but again this is in play, we obviously hope this can be avoided. A number of bridges on course have been damaged. We have been unable to inspect some areas of the course at present so other potential damage is unknown.
All in all there is nothing that can be done other than wait this out and then start the necessary repair work. Tony.
