Virginia Golf Club hosted the 13th edition of the Wayne Grady Cup today Sunday October 6. The 2024 edition was a huge success with 91 players from 36 different Clubs represented from NSW and Qld a solid effort from all players involved.
After the first round George Giblett +2 and Mitchell Salmond 0 both shot 3 under par 68 to lead by one from Wesley Hinton +1 with 69 and Ethan Anderson + 4 finished just two shots off the leading pair with a score of 70. In the end it was local knowledge that saw Ethan Anderson storm home with cracking final round to finish 70-66 total 136 to take out the event, two shots clear of the R/up ocb James Goffman 71 – 67 total 138 and Wesley Hinton who also finished on 69 – 69 total 138.
The best Junior after round 1 was Yutaro Matsushita off 2 shot one over par 72, one shot clear of Chase Oberle with 73. It was Chase Oberle in the end that won the best 36 hole Junior gross with final scores of 73 – 76 total 149
Bella Zhong lead the women’s round one after shooting a solid 3 over 76, just two shots clear of Anna Chen finishing on 78. After 36 holes Yuna Toyama finished on top with scores of 79 – 77 total 156 to win the best Women’s 36 hole gross.
