Dear Members,
On Saturday 5th March 2022 from 5.45 pm, in conjunction with Professional Long Drive Australia, we will be hosting the re-scheduled Professional Long Drive event at the Club. All members are welcome to attend this event which is expected to run for 2.5 hours.
The Long Drive Platform will be behind (Clubside) the 18th Green with Competitors driving back down the 18th Fairway (under lights). There will be large TV’s using ‘Trackman’ to display swing speeds, distance etc of each drive. There is a range of entry categories including an Amateur & Women’s categories ($100 entry to www.pdla.com) so if you fancy yourself to hit it into the 18th dam (410 yards) sign up to have a crack.
The format consists of qualifying rounds where participants get 2 sets of 6 drives, with top 8 in each category then going into seeded knockout rounds ( 1st vs 8th qualifier etc), to semi final & final, with each qualifier playing six drives in each of the knock out rounds. There will be good viewing options from the Terrace area.
Professional entrants compete for a cash prize whilst amateur participants for Club vouchers, 80% of competition entry is allocated to prize money/vouchers for both professionals and amateurs.
This should be great fun and interesting event. Already we understand a number of inter-state professional drivers will be at the event, so feel free to join in at the completion of the Saturday afternoon comp field. This will be some preparation undertaken in the days leading up to the event (flags, lighting and line marking on the 18th) but this should not impact on the competition play on the day.
